The General Thimayya National Academy of Adventure (GETHNAA) was established by the Government of Karnataka on 23 Mar 1989 for the promotion of adventure sports in Karnataka. The Academy functions under the Department of Youth Empowerment and Sports, Government of Karnataka. 

The Academy was raised by Gen PP Kumaramangalam, (Retd) Padma Vibhushan, DSO, MBE, and Lt Gen N S Narahari (Retd), PVSM. Today it is the Premier Institute of the Govt of Karnataka, to provide adventure activities / sports to the youth and prepare them for life’s challenges. 

Youth trained by us have won a number of medals at the National Level and many are gainfully employed in the various Adventure Tourism centres.
